I am a guitar player, but when I was jamming with other musicians, like all guitar players I wanted to mess around with the bass. So, I decided to buy my own. Being a guitar player, I really had no idea what to buy. I just wanted something inexpensive that sounded good and was easy to get a tone right away.
You may be able to tell right now that I love a bargain and I love unique instruments. I found this beauty for $300 on consignment at a Boston music store. It is an American made bass. It is one of the first run editions. Now, I have seen the newer models going for about $1100. I definitely got a bargain.
As far as the tone goes, it is booming and built for rock. It has a similar tone to the Music Man stingray, but I would say that it has more bottom end. It’s not very versatile, but for low-end rock it is great. I am a guitar player after all and it suits my needs.
The best thing about the bass is its playability. To me, it is the perfect fit and feel.

I love this acoustic. This is a 1997 Larrivee D-03 acoustic guitar. 1997 was the first productions year of this guitar. It was intended to be a no frills high quality acoustic. The newer models feature a pickguard, fretboard dots, and fretboard binding. This model is stripped down as you can see in the picture. The street price for one of these in 2010 is around $950-$1000. I picked this one up for about $500 new.
I am not sure how the new models sound, but mine has a round tone that is midrange in nature. I would say that it is a brown-sound acoustic, but you the highs still come through.
I would buy this again.

I bought this guitar new for $1500. I got a deal because there was a fire at the local guitar store. This was my first high-quality guitar. It is a Gibson Les Paul Classic Premium Plus (Discontinued). It has a beautiful flamed top and plays great. This is absolutely my favorite guitar. It is 100% stock. It has high output ceramic pickups. I have read many complaints about these pickups, but I love them.
Quick little story about this guitar. About a year ago, I noticed a defect in the headstock that became worse over time. I had the original receipt and I was the only owner so I contacted Gibson. Guess what – They Fixed it 100% free of charge. I can’t say enought about their service.
However, there is more to the story. When I received the guitar back from the factory it was damaged from shipping. After arguing with FedEx for a month, I was able to return the guitar to Gibson and they did a complete new paint job on the back to repair the scratches. Score Gibson 1 FedEx 0.
I have tried many of the other high end guitars, and there are many great ones, but I am absolutely a Gibson Player Through and Through.

This is a picture of one of my guitars. It is a 1985 Kramer Baretta. I bought this guitar at a local used guitar store in the Boston area. I paid $99. It had the previous owner’s initials carved on the back and didn’t have a pickup.
I cut out hundreds of my favorite comics and pasted them to the body. I then added a Seymour Duncan JB and had a local luthier do a pro setup. I have owned this for about 15 years. It is a one trick pony that does hairband metal like a pro.
